Our Approach

Our Approach · People · Planet · Experience

Better choices. Beautifully delivered.

We believe extraordinary events and responsible choices belong together. Earthly brings sustainability into the food, suppliers, materials and experiences we curate — thoughtfully, practically and without compromising the occasion.

Real Food Independent Producers Thoughtful Sourcing Less Waste Better Experiences
Sustainability, The Earthly Way

Not perfect. Better.

Sustainability shouldn’t make an event feel restrictive. It should make us think more carefully about how we create it.

For Earthly, that means looking at the decisions behind an event: where the food comes from, who we work with, what materials are used, what gets thrown away and whether there is a better way of doing something.

We favour practical improvements over sweeping promises. Local and seasonal where it makes sense. Reusable instead of disposable where possible. Independent producers when they are the right fit. Proper ingredients. Thoughtful planning.

The event still needs to look beautiful, taste brilliant and give people a genuinely memorable experience. That’s the point.

The Earthly Philosophy

People. Planet. Experience.

These three ideas sit behind the decisions we make when creating an Earthly event.

01 — PEOPLE

Good for people.

Events should bring people together. We create welcoming experiences around great food, conversation, movement, wellbeing and genuine human connection.

02 — PLANET

Better for the planet.

We look for sensible opportunities to reduce unnecessary waste, source thoughtfully and support suppliers doing things well.

03 — EXPERIENCE

Worth remembering.

Responsibility should never be an excuse for an ordinary event. Beautiful design, exceptional food and brilliant experiences remain fundamental.

Food & Sourcing

Start with real food.

Food has always been central to Earthly.

We favour real ingredients, seasonal menus and food that has been properly prepared. Where practical, we look towards local growers, independent producers, chefs and businesses with a genuine connection to what they serve.

Plant-based food remains an important part of our heritage and our events, but our approach today is inclusive rather than prescriptive. Great plant-based dishes should sit naturally alongside a wider menu and be something everyone wants to eat.

Practical Sustainability

It’s in the details.

There isn’t one decision that suddenly makes an event sustainable. It is the accumulation of many smaller decisions made throughout the planning and delivery process.

Food

Seasonal Thinking

Building menus around ingredients and produce that make sense for the season and the event.

Suppliers

Independent Businesses

Giving talented smaller businesses, makers and producers opportunities to become part of larger experiences.

Materials

Use Less. Use Better.

Considering reusable, recyclable or compostable options and avoiding unnecessary single-use items where practical.

Waste

Plan Beforehand

Thinking about quantities, service and waste before an event is considerably more useful than dealing with unnecessary excess afterwards.

Place

Think Local

Where possible, sourcing closer to the event can support local businesses while reducing unnecessary movement and logistics.

Design

Considered Styling

Plants, natural textures, reusable furniture and thoughtful details can create beautiful spaces without relying on disposable decoration.

Our Position

Progress over perfection.

We aren’t interested in making unrealistic claims about perfectly sustainable events.

Events require people, products, travel, equipment, food and energy. Pretending otherwise doesn’t help anyone.

Our job is to look honestly at the choices available and make better ones wherever they are practical, meaningful and appropriate for the event.

Sometimes the improvement is significant. Sometimes it is simply choosing a better supplier, avoiding unnecessary packaging or preventing food from being wasted. Both matter.

Producers & Communities

Better events can support better businesses.

Earthly has deep roots in independent food, makers, producers and small businesses.

We believe events can create valuable opportunities for those businesses — particularly when larger organisations and brands open their events to interesting independent suppliers.

Rather than treating suppliers simply as something to fill a space, we curate people and businesses that genuinely contribute to the experience.

That means better food, more interesting stories and money reaching businesses that often make things with real care.

What We Consider

Small choices. Made throughout.

Every event is different, so not every measure will apply every time. These are some of the areas we consider during the curation process.

Seasonal ingredients
Local sourcing where practical
Independent producers
Plant-based menu choices
Reduced single-use materials
Reusable serviceware
Food waste planning
Responsible waste handling
Reusable event styling
Thoughtful supplier selection
Efficient logistics where possible
Guest wellbeing
Sustainability Includes People

Healthy planet. Healthy people.

Our approach isn’t only about what goes into a recycling bin.

Events have the ability to positively influence how people eat, move, connect, relax and think about their own wellbeing.

That’s why food, mindfulness, movement, nature and mental wellbeing can all form part of an Earthly experience where appropriate.

We want these experiences to feel accessible and enjoyable, not worthy or preachy. Sometimes the most effective way to encourage a better choice is simply to make it the most appealing choice in the room.

No Greenwashing

We’d rather be honest than perfect on paper.

Sustainability is complicated. We won’t describe something as zero-impact simply because it contains recycled materials, and we won’t make environmental promises we cannot substantiate.

What we can do is ask better questions, work with good people, challenge unnecessary waste and continually look for practical ways to improve the events we create.
