BIO: This all began after some painful and depressing phone calls with vegan businesses that traded with me at my events, many of whom are close friends of mine. The first lockdown was in full swing and I decided to do something to try to keep us all going, so along with my good friend Danyl, we decided to open an online store that would support us all. It has been nearly 12 months since that first phone call as we are about to launch and a lot has happened. We have the most wonderful team, talented, creative, loving and brilliant intentions. We’ve also been lucky to have some fantastic contributors along the way on this journey and we are forever grateful.

BIO: I love helping and empowering people, justice, and the love itself… In this same line, I’ve been working with entrepreneurs over the last years; firstly, getting prepared for any challenge that they may have so we can overcome it together. Also, I’ve found how bad the world is right now, so I wanted to do my part, so I support people who have ethical businesses.
AMBASSADORS
Hi Ellis, It’s super nice to chat with you! Let’s go straight to the point!
Why you think conscious consumerism is important for 2021 and beyond.
I think conscious consumerism is important for our future because the very least we can be is
conscious. We can’t be perfect in everything we purchase/do, but if we’re at least conscious
then our purchases should start to have way less of an impact on the environment, the animals, and our health.
What are your thoughts and experiences as an ethical business owner?
Joining Ethcs and becoming a business owner has opened my eyes to the fashion industry.
It’s great because you learn so much about the fashion world. A lot that needs to change and
improve, which is the daunting side. But it sparks a real passion inside me to keep pushing
what we do as a business to make these changes.
What role do you think Earthly will eventually play in the E-Commerce sector moving
forward?
I think it’ll be a great place to shop/browse knowing that everything is vegan friendly.
Fashion, beauty, food, events, etc. We need to start driving people away from the bigger
corporations like Amazon, and direct people to ethical ways of purchasing. Also, Earthly is
run by vegans so you know that ethics is always the main goal in the company.
Do you think supporting small, independent businesses is important?
I think it’s super important to support small businesses, it’s them who need it the most,
especially ethical small businesses. They care about the community that they’re in and tend to
have the best interest of their staff and their customers. They also are better for the
environment because they often have a smaller carbon footprint than larger companies.
What are your short-term plans and where can our readers find you and follow your
journey?
I plan to get way busier on the creative side and create more content for myself, for Ethcs, our
YouTube’s etc. I want to network more and plan more exciting collaborations. You can find

Earthly HQ: Darius, it’s fantastic to have you on board, I am thrilled to have you on board! I followed your journey closely over the past few year and during many conversations you always seem to note that we need to do more as a society to help educate people and help the Earth heal but in short, can you tell me what do you think is wrong with the world at the moment?
Darius: We live in a world where we’ve been programmed to always want more, which not only pulls us away from gratitude for the things we do have, it also puts us in competition with people who have more. It makes us feel inadequate or not enough, which keeps us on the hamster wheel of giving up more of the opportunity to experience life for the momentary satisfaction that materialist items bring.
Earthly HQ: Wow, I couldn’t agree more. We never stop. More, more, more is a motto that so many people nowadays have adopted. I am a huge believer that everyone just needs to slow down and breathe, go back to basics and appreciate that one essential thing that we all need, our breath. Getting back to the subject, Earthly is a Vegan Founded business, could you tell our readers why veganism and mindfulness is so important to you?
Darius: Becoming vegan changed my life in many ways, notably the opportunity to continue playing professional football again after being advised to retire. I feel fitter, stronger and recover so much quicker. Bringing this way of life into my home has also brought about change in family members who were suffering from illness that they no longer have. Mindfulness has been a huge building block and continues to create a solid foundation for me to build on. The past two/three years have been incredibly challenging for me and without mindfulness practice, lets just say I would not be where I am today, experiencing life the way I do now.
Earthly HQ: That’s a wonderful answer. Can you tell us what draws you to Earthly and why did you decide to join us?
Darius: It is more so now than ever, extremely important to support local/independent business. Bringing this sustainable lifestyle to e-commerce is a brilliant way for those looking to lower their carbon footprint, entertain a vegan lifestyle, or simply support consciously ethical companies from the comfort of their own home. I’m a massive advocate for buying with small businesses. I think Earthly will create a community that helps and supports you buying from local business. To this day I go to the same food market my nan would take me to as a child. She would always buy plenty of food that would create the most wonderful Caribbean dishes that I would now make for my son. The only way this has been made possible is by continuing to support the local businesses that cater to your community.
Earthly HQ: What’s nexy in store for you? What’s your plan for 2021?
Darius: For me, this year I will continue to stay curious about intellectual and emotional growth to help guide me both, professionally and personally. I’ve set myself little and large goals to strive towards and as an Earthly ambassador I intend to lead by example living not by words and lip service but actions and deeds which are driven by my values
Earthly HQ: That’s great. Thank you so much Darius for this catch up! We are all really excited to work with you and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us.
Clare, our main topic today is to talk about conscious consumerism but before we get started, tell us
about your passion for food and your love for London, how did you get here?
I’ve always been passionate about food; I was fascinated by the food scene in London and it was part of the
reason I moved here. From the street food traders grafting in the freezing cold weather to the Michelin star
restaurants with extravagant tasting menus, I’m so intrigued by all of it.
Being a food blogger must be exciting, why did you start?
I’m so incredibly lucky to have my dream job as a vegan food blogger and through this, I have seen how
important it is to support small businesses, brands and restaurants as much as possible. So, I try to use my
social media channels to do this. It’s fair to say that it has become a passion of mine. While I think it’s
important to have the support of big businesses in order to drive veganism forward, the independents are the
ones pouring their hearts and souls into every single dish and you just can’t beat that. Not only that, but
these businesses often take the time to think about every step of the production process, from the
sustainability element of the product packaging to the welfare and wellbeing of the people creating the
products.
I love that. It truly does show what you care about and what's important to you. At Earthly, we feel
the same. We know that veganism needs the support of large corporation to push it forward faster
and move the world into a more sustainable living, however, we are here to support the small
independent businesses and help people find a more sustainable way to shop. I believe that in the
current climate, convenience comes before ethics and it will never be sustainable so profiles like yours
are essential to educate and promote more sustainable living. That's why we also created Earthly, to
educate people on how to shop consciously. Do you think it's important?
Given the current state of our society and our planet, I think conscious consumerism is going to become
more and more important to people all over the world and I’m certain we’ll start to see more businesses
starting to realise that they need to pay attention to this. I think this is why businesses like Earthly are so
important right now. People want to support more ethical, sustainable brands and this is the perfect platform
to allow them to do so.
I’m so excited to be part of the Earthly journey and I can’t wait to discover and support lots of exciting
sustainable, ethical brands!
Thank you, Clare! I appreciate your time to get involved in this project and thank you for the chat!
